Nigerian actor, producer and politician Desmond Elliot said the government should ban the importation of foreign films in order to allow the growth of the Nigerian film industry.
According to him, importing foreign content into the country limits the growth of local content.
Nigerians, however, believe that its proposal has no solid foundation, as Nigerian film industry players could equally strengthen their games to compete with foreign content.
Elliot is a strong advocate for the diversification of the Nigerian economy through the film industry. In 2017, he told the Nigerian News Agency (NAN) that the film industry could potentially take the country out of the recession if it was properly exploited.
